Libraries are the heart of campuses and communities, but with technology changing how that looks, it is important to mindfully focus on what the soul of the library is, a place for connection and community.

At this retreat, we will reflect on the role of libraries in campus communities, and the challenges in making real connection in the digital age, as well as how to adapt and collaborate when the tools change those opportunities.

The retreat will offer in-person and streaming access to sessions.

Keynote Speaker: Dean McGovern

Civic leadership, inclusive dialog, & community engagement

Dean enjoys finding spaces where education, humanities, and community join to create positive social change. He teaches in the Honors College at the University of Utah. Dean’s teaching and scholarship focus on civic leadership, inclusive dialogue, and community engagement. He earned his doctoral and master’s degrees from the University of Montana and his baccalaureate degree from Colorado State University. He seeks to find answers to persistent questions in poetry, art, music, conversation, and by running the mountains of the Western United States. His greatest joy is following the adventures of his children as they make their own contributions to a better world.
