About The Affordable Learning Materials (ALM) Subcommittee

The Subcommittee Charge

Reporting to the Utah Academic Library Consortium (UALC) Executive Council, the Affordable Learning Materials Subcommittee is charged with fostering communication, collaboration, and mutual support among institutions to strengthen collective efforts that reduce the cost of learning materials for students, including OER.

This subcommittee brings together representatives from member colleges and universities to advocate for students and advance the use, awareness, and impact of affordable learning materials across Utah’s higher education landscape.

To accomplish this charge, the subcommittee will:

  • Promote ongoing initiatives related to affordable learning materials (such as OER) by sharing successes, and resources with member institutions and beyond.
  • Support committee members working on related projects or research opportunities by exchanging strategies, offering guidance, and identifying opportunities for alignment.
  • Serve as a central hub for collaboration on emerging trends, innovative solutions, and pressing challenges in affordable learning materials, and providing expertise to support broader statewide initiatives.
